Redeeming BMI miles on Air New Zealand

Postby Vegascrazy » 29 Dec 2011, 16:53

Have I got this right: Browsing the BMI Diamond Club 'Ways to Spend Miles' - under the 'BMI & Star Alliance' section of their website it stayes that a Zone 1 (UK) to Zone 3 (USA) return Economy flight requires 45000 miles. It also says to multiply by 1.5 to get the number required for a Business Class return. I make that 67500 miles for a return flight to LAX on Air New Zealand. Am I doing this right? Seems to good to be true given that I've accumulated near on 80K BMI miles and am keen to use them soonish given the takeover. I'd need 100K miles if redeeming on VS so ANZ seems the way to go? All advice appreciated.

Thanks
James

Can't help with the BMI miles redemption rate James but (ISTBC) the VS FC miles redemption on NZ in Business Premier is 75,000 (well it was at least). I tried to use my FC miles to get some availability with NZ in J for my LA trip in October of this year, and had no joy whatsoever (even being very flexible). I ended up using VS (for 100,000 miles).
