Winners of the 2010 V-Flyer Awards
Drumroll please...
The winner of the Best Airport Lounge goes to the Virgin Holidays' V-ROOM at London Gatwick, a unique facility for package holidaymakers, and particularly friendly to families with kids. It was described in the voting as a “An amazing way to start your holiday. The normal stress of finding somewhere to sit, queuing for food and chasing after the kids becomes a thing of the past”. One voter even said “Quite simply the best experience pre-flight. If you’re not a Virgin Holidays customer, you’re missing out”. The win for the V-ROOM broke the four-year run by the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at London Heathrow on the trophy. The flagship Clubhouse came a very close second.
The category Best Airport Team serves to salute the groundstaff that can turn the confusion (or monotony, depending on how frequently you fly) of the airport terminal into a pleasure worth looking forward to. For the second year in a row, the Virgin America team in San Francisco topped the charts with V-Flyer visitors. Passengers cited their “limitless enthusiasm for the job... which makes the rest of the terminal seem monochrome in comparison”. Runner-up in this category was the Virgin Atlantic team in Washington D.C.
Our V-Flyer Hero for 2010 is Tinkerbelle, Virgin Atlantic crew and an active member of the V-Flyer community who "is just as excited about travelling as the passengers she looks after". Runner up in this category was last year's winner, Claire Nissim.

Congratulations to all winners but a particular thank-you to Tinks. The time she puts into this site is much appreciated as is the in-flight service for those of us lucky enough to experience it!

Congrats to Tink, a very worthy winner.
I have never used the V-Room - but is that fact that it has beaten both London Clubhouses, an indication of passengers being fed up with service cuts in these facilities?
I am fascinated by the VX team at SFO winning best airport team. Given the small percentage of V-Flyer voters who have had first hand experience of their undoubtedly excellent service, was there any campaigning done on their behalf perchance?
Again, the fact that the LHR / LGW / MAN teams do not win this award, should send big alarm bells to VS. In my experience, the VX staff make passengers feel like the VS staff always used to, and only sometimes do now.

Congratulations to all the winners..
Or that the demographic of V-Flyer membership has changed a wee bit?

Yey for Tink
I am also pleased to see the V-Room as a winner, I know it has been subject to some pre-conceived negativity in the past on here, but those who use must it obviously find it very good for it to beat the long time LHR CH as champion.

Congratulations Tinks, now where is that glitter fizz when you need it?
And well done to all the other winners as well. I can see why the V-room would do well, on the very rare occasion I take a package holiday I wish something like this was available.
Regards

Congratulations to the winners, all well deserved IMHO
Tinks' recognition goes without saying as she is an excellent ambassador for VS both on board and elsewhere.
The V Room service I experienced (when the LGW Clubhouse was closed) demonstrated the absolute commitment of everyone who works there and such enthusiasm to always do the best for passengers does, regrettably, puts some other Clubhouses to shame - so an equally well deserved award

Horray for Tinks! Having met her and flown with her I can say that she certainly does deserve the accolade. Now, get serving that glitter fizz love

I know VX 'tweeted' and Facebooked their followers to vote for them when the nominations opened. but what is probably more telling is the general responses you see to the Facebook posts of Virgin America versus Virgin Atlantic. Whereas the VS posts turn into a bitch-fest, most VX posts I've noticed get generally positive reactions.
