I take back my comments about BA being efficient in giving the information, i have just received an email to tell me that they THINK i have a booking during the strike days and IF that is correct i MAY be allowed to change my travel plans[:?][?][V]

So much for you giving them an email address linked to your booking!
PLEASE VIRGIN, start flying to Accra

Situation back to normal with T1 looking like a refugee camp as marquees put up again today. Traffic full on the T1 ramp too as a drop off lane is closed for the tents, so expect delays if driving.

Cheers, Howard

Ah you gotta love Willy Walshes track record. Two strikes with the last two airlines he's been with (EI and now BA), but also mass profits with both.

Virgin Trains are offerring free first class tickets to anyone travelling with BA on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Big advert in the Sunday Times (and I assume all the other papers)

My boss is travelling with BA to SFO on Thursday and wasnt concerned until he heard today about a backlog of flights on Thursday & Friday due to the strikes.

He did however manage to speak to someone "in high authority" last Friday who seemed to think that the strike will be only for the two days this week as they are close to agreeing to avert any future strikes with the union.

How true this is i dont know.

I can also forsee Willy Walshes being forced to resign from his job.Doesnt have much luck with airlines does he?

I don't know. [:?] He turned Aer Lingus round from a loss making to a profit making airline and only had one strike in 2002. The reason Aer John would remember it was that we were directly affected by it

I bet tomorrow and Wednesday will be interesting days to fly with BA. With so many people rebooked when the strikes were announced I wonder how many aircraft will be as good as empty!

The beeb have been at Terminal 4 all morning and it is like a Ghost town- apparently there are some fab fares to pick up at the moment if you just turn up at LHR.

One of this mornings 763 flights in from ATH had only 5 pax on it out of a possible 267! Crazy!

According to the lunchtime news the flight to Beijing left with 2 people on board. The flight to Zurich had 12 people and one guy reported that his coffee cup was refilled so often he had to tell them to stop!

Don't BA lose even more money now as they have to actually fly the flights with only a handful of pax.[:?]

They probably do, however if they cancel them, their aircraft will be out of position? Maybe that is why? [:?]

Yeh it is something to do with that- I know that BA were going to position a lot of aircraft down to Exeter, Bournemouth and Bristol persumably so that they didnt have to pay such high fees for them siting on gate at LHR/LHR didnt have space for all the aicraft to be sat on the ground.

Interestingly the PEK flight with 2 pax was operated by a 744 not the usual 772- again I would imagine it was to pick up a lot of inbound pax.
