Shame but if they have too many overqualified staff that deliver the expected service and have remained in position, BA says they gotta go

Maybe the VS new alliance (rumoured of course) can take them on if they are looking to expand I also hear they are looking for experienced cabin crew for their new domestic outfit..

The crew really shot themselves in the foot with the strike last time round. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

There will be no strike. The redundancies are voluntary and the union has actually been pressing for this because BA is over-crewed at the senior grades and addressing this will give more roster stability to the crew that remain. A lot of crew that had been considering leaving have been holding out for this.

There is a lively discussion about this on flyer tallk.

I wouldn't say the union has been pressing for this but due to the numbers of staff involved here would have to be/ have been a 90 day consultation period where they would have hammered out things like actual numbers, time scales and selection criteria

On flyer talk some one also said that the union had said there would be no calls for a strike as long as there were no compulsory redundancies which BA have said there won't be.

If there are people who are happy to take the redundancy and those people are the ones BA wants (needs) to leave then this looks like a good deal all round.
