I will be flying BA ICN to LHR next week in WT+ currently BA are offering upgrade to club for £499. Alternatively I can upgrade using 60000 avios. I would need to buy 15000 avios and including the tax in the upgrade it would be 60000 avios and £404 for all 4 people. Does this seem a good offer?

Lastly I was wondering whether someone could do a load check for BA18 departing Tuesday 13 August.

Thank you in advanced to any who reply.

60,000 avios to upgrade from WT+ to CW? that seems really high. VS is only 12,500 from PE to UC.

I presume you mean £499 EACH to upgrade? And 60,000 Avios and £404 for ALL FOUR of you (ie 15,000 Avios and £101 each)?

If so, assuming you price Avios at 1p each, using them would be much better value.

If, however, you mean 60,000 Avios each (ie 240,000 in total) then I'd pay for the cash upgrade..

Yes that is correct total of 60000 avios and £404 for WT+ to club world.

Thank you gumshoe for the load check. If the flight is so empty will BA offer a better cash upgrade at airport or is this unlikely. Also is there any chance of an op up or does this just happen when a cabin is oversold.

Unless they sell a lot of seats in the next 3 days I'd have thought tere's no chance whatsoever of an op-up - that would only happen if WT+ was oversold.

And I doubt you'll get a much better price at the airport. I value Avios at 1p each so 60,000 = £600 + £404 = £1004, compared to £1996 for the cash upgrade. They'd need to offer an upgrade of £250 or less to beat the Avios deal.

Of course
Silly me
In that case I would take the upgrade plus £101 each
