After 10 years I'm finally booked to back to Vancouver and do a bit of fishing however much to my disappointment Virgin have stopped the route so I'm thinking of going BA direct rather than via a virgin route
I'm flying back from Montreal and ex Dublin I got a great club world price of about €1450 however first is available on the outbound for an extra €800 which in finding quite tempting
Any view from the panel on this? Worth the extra?

Personally yes. The Whole experience from checking in at the first section to the 'secret door just after the priority security chanel into the Concorde room is great. The first suite is a lot bigger than the club world seat and the pampering I have always received is great.

My last F trip report is on BA flyer the sister site to V flyer Is here

I didn't think BA had a full First Class Cabin on their flights to Vancouver, we are booked BA Club World to Vancouver in April, plane is a 747 with the old first class cabin in which they provide Club World service, we couldn't get seats allocated in this cabin as they are held back for BA premium customers. Maybe there is more than one flight per day from Vancouver to Heathrow.

BA recently changed their minds and decided to upgrade the 747s to new First. Anyone (like me) who had seats in Old F were shunted back to the Club World cabin.

From BA
Flights to Vancouver will return to operating with four classes from March 2015 when the operation switches to the Summer schedule followed by Las Vegas, Phoenix and Cape Town in October 2015.

Thank you for the update, understand now why Old First Class seats are no longer showing on seat map, when I booked seats the Old First Class seats where showing but as unavailable.

Until 100% of BA's fleet is update with the New First seats, I wouldn't go for it.

There'll be a risk, however small, that you'll end out with the thoroughly clapped out old cabin.

F isn't being offered on routes where this might occur -only CW I believe. If they are offering F it will be the "new" F. I commented recently in another post about the LAS route ( which currently isn't offering F).i believe all the 747 will be re-fitted by October.
I'd definitely be tempted to get the cards out :) .

If you get Old First, you get 50k Avios, so not a bad risk to take.

No you don't

BA stopped that 'compensation' when they stopped selling Old F as F and as Lee is booked in F it will be a full F service in new F.

All BA 747's will have New First by the end of October 2015.

Vancouver will operate with 4 classes (inc First) from March, followed by Las Vegas, Phoenix and Cape Town in October.

Last nights LAS-LHR (landed today), didn't sell F but did have new First seats for the extra club passengers.
