New route to Ft Lauderdale

I am really surprised that BA has announced this new route as it is so close to Miami. I know it is wishful thinking but I would have thought that RSW would have made more sense.

Shrewd move on the part of BA.

The cruise market is ever increasing, so if there is the ability to put passengers direct into the Port, then I for one would opt for Ft. Lauderdale over MIA.

Norwegian's LGW - FLL service is extremely popular with high loads, definitely a market to exploited here!

RSW doesn't have 3.5 million cruise passengers a year!

What surprises me is BA are only putting a 3-class 777 on this route. I'd have thought there'd be enough demand for F from the affluent cruise market. Maybe not; I suppose they can continue to go via MIA on the superior 747 or A380.

Yes - I forgot all about the cruise market. :-O

It certainly makes sense now.

BA are putting up a direct fight with Norwegian, this is one of the first steps. They are also matching Norwegian prices in economy on the route, if you're quick(!), but BA (currently...) includes a bag.
