Hi

I'm wanting to use up 50k Diamond Club miles I've got via CC spend.

Looking at

https://www.flybmi.com/bmi/src/html/dia ... miles.html

...just wanted to check I'm reading this correctly, in that a First class return to the USA from the UK would cost me 50k miles + 280 cash?
I.e. double the 25k+140 for an economy fare.

Hoping I'm right as this seems like a good deal!

Thanks
Andy

That sounds about right, but I think it is 50k miles + £280 cash + taxes and fee's

Thanks for the quick reply Scrooge :)
Any idea roughly how much taxes etc would be LHR-SFO return?

Cheers

I would refer you to Mr Preiffer or do a booking on UA and it will show you.

I stopped being lazy, $342.15 according to UA.com...though calling the Diamond club may be a better way of figuring out the total out of pocket costs.

Taxes might be higher ex-UK as non-US airlines charge higher fees/fuel surcharges.

Are you running the SF marathon Andy?

Well there are only two airlines that fly SFO-LHR direct with a first class cabin, UA and BA and only one you can spend diamond miles on.

Not doing the marathon this year, taking a year off!

When I price up a reward fare on United's UK site it gives the taxes etc as £110 which seems pretty reasonable. I will give Diamond club a call later to clarify but £390+50k miles for a UA First return seems very good value.

Last UA F reward (with BD DC miles) I did was around £220 in taxes.

You know what though, you may want to think about taking LH out of FRA as it is a league ahead of the UA product.

Preiffer - thanks.

Scrooge - would love to fly LH, but I read last night (can't remember the source) that they don't allow miles+money bookings. Shame as the FRA lounge looks amazing.

I hadn't heard that before, but probably correct, can't harm to ask though ?
