Villas

We're thinking of a trip to Florida next year. I would prefer a villa to a hotel. Last time we stayed at a friend's place in Davenport so there was nothing walkable in terms of restaurants.

Is it possible to get a villa where there are restaurants in walking distance for breakfast / dinner?

Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you in advance.

To be honest, I don't think it is possible to have a 'villa' holiday in the Disney area and be walkable anywhere.

You can get closer to Disney than being on the 27 (Davenport)but restaurants etc are still by car.

Thanks for your thoughts Spiceke ... it's what I thought the response might be.

Depends on how far you want to walk! There are loads of sub-divisions along Hwy 192 which advertise themselves as 'within walking distance of supermarkets and restaurants'. We've stayed in properties up and down the 192 for the past 20 years and, must admit, have never walked to restaurants, but it obviously can be done. :)

I don't want to divert you away from this forum but if going to Florida I don't think you can beat The Dibb for information, lots of the posters have villas themselves or recommends.

As other posters have said, most villas require a car to get around. If you are looking for a villa look no further than V-Flyers very own Mrs Bear99. We stayed in her villa along the US 27 and it was brilliant. Ps I am not a relative or have anything to gain by recommending the villa! www.magicalstay.com

there have been some excellent offers for staying at Disney's old key west resort which pop up quite often, two bed villas with free Disney dinning plan thrown in. A small boat trip to downtown Disney, which is walkable too

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resor ... tes-rooms/

for the last couple of years we have got it for half price which has worked out cheaper than buying two regular adjoining rooms.
the villas have all mod cons, washing machine/dryers etc. best value we have experienced, we even got the 14 day Disney Ultimate pass for the 7 day price (though not a massive saving but with three adults it all adds up) transport to and fro the airport is complementary too!

Whenever we drive along the 192 and see people staggering along in the heat we always say, " Must be British ! "

IMO a car is essential......driving here isn't too bad, just treat other drivers as though they are blind, insane, texting with one hand, eating with the other and don't know what indicators are for

we deal with it every day.....and now the snowbirds are coming...it seems de rigeur that 'Ontarions' drive at 20mph and Michiganers make a left turn across 3 lanes from the far right

sadly you quickly learn who and what to look out for

the funny thing is all the locals complain how busy it is....a day on the M25 would kill them !

So true, noticed it more than ever this last week. There are some complete numpties let loose behind the wheel. It's not a dangerous driving experience but on numerous occasions we just could not believe how dumb some people are!
You will heavily restrict yourself not having access to own transport..other than a few quirky different rules, driving is a doddle.
