Started out OK-ish for me and then got much slower to the point of getting time out messages. I even had time for a game of Solitaire while one page was loading. [:D]

Actually, I find it slow enough most mornings at around 8:15 [:(]

Pete is looking into right now.

In searching to locate the problem you may find features such as 'search' down for a bit, please stick with 'us' while he pokes around.

would that also explain why the post count isn't increasing?

No - that would be an unrelated issue.

Is that happening outside the fora that doesn't increase post count by design - such as Off Topic?

D'oh!! My bad [:I] Will sit in corner and write out 100 times 'must not waste Pete's time' [B)]

On the plus side, I haven't noticed any where near as many slow loads and timeouts recenty.

Very slow again this morning (6/11), for me it always seems to be around 9am that it slows up and the time out errors occur.

Painfully slow this morning and as Nick says time out errors abound. Seems to often occur when waiting for Google.com?

I find it slow at about 8:15. I could boil an egg in the time it takes for the page to load/time out errors to occur.

For the first time in ages it has worked perfectly for me today. Worst time for me is around 7am when I first log on, yesterday was especially bad.

I actually had my broadband service come out as the pages were loading terribly slow on all fronts -- they replaced the node for my neighborhood and now service is sizzling...except for VF. It has speeded up here, to be certain, but still hangs in breathless anticipation before loading my chosen next page.

And Pete, if I am going to Neil's profile page, I cannot be kept waiting. Thank you.

Actually a lot of pages are loading slowly for me right now, except VF, though the profile pages are still taking ages to load.

It has been awful this morning, the worse I have known it. It has taken me over 10 attempts and nearly 25mins to change the active topics view from 'last hour' to 'last 12 hours' with numerous error messages.

One thing I did look at was my anti virus, I had noticed that after the last update pages were running very slowly, I switched from avast to AVG and everything is now running very smoothly.

I use AVG at home and McAfee at work and I suffer the problems both at home and work.

And there was I thinking it hadn't been this fast in the morning for a long time.

It is pretty awful right now (4.35pm Sat 15 Nov), especially when trying to display 'active topics'.

Generally, this site always seems painfully slow, but for most of today I've been unable to use it at all. [n]
Any ideas why?

It's not a major problem, I was just interested. [:)]

I'm being very lazy and not reading all four pages of posts, I have found numerous websites very slow to load over the last few days. Haven't been able to access FlyBE for days, for example.

Just tried FlyBE and it's seems all ok and fast now? If you're having problems with numerous sites (from different servers and countries) then it's more likely to be a problem on your own machine/connection or ISP.

The problem I have only regards v-flyer.com, which always seems slow, but has actually turned unavailable each time I tried to read more than a page today. (Having said that it's now back online, but still it's usual slow self?)

It's not important, just makes it a bit irritating to use. [|)]

We seem to have been having a few speed problems lately. For me the site is much slower than say 2/3 months ago and I still experience a lot of error messages. Pete is aware of it and has disabled certain things, like the site search function, to try and sort it. Fingers crossed it will be fully resolved soon but I guess we will just have to be a wee bit patient.
