I've been a fan of Firefox for a long time, but latterly it's gotten overblown, buggy and slow for me with some sites and running Javascripts (on my Vista laptop, still fine on my Max). Not sure if that's Firefox or MS though ...

Now trying Chrome for the first time, but invite comments and suggestions on your favourite browser?

Not tried Chrome on Win7, but on Snow leopard I found it very slow but as it's a Beta, I'll let them off.

For me:

Windows:- IE8 Beat me, beat me!!!
Mac:- Firefox with Safari in reserve.

Another Firefox fan here. Tried Chrome for a while but just didn't like it, and ever since I have used Firefox I can't stand IE.

I have 4 browsers on my computer, in order from best to worst.

Firefox/Flock
Chrome
IE8
Opera

FF played up a bit for me after the latest release, but it did a very quick update, maybe a day or so later and has been good ever since.

Try the following in all of the browsers you use. You will probably be surprised. For me Safari comes out top (which was a surprise for me). I prefer to use Firefox as I have a load of add-ons I use. If Safari or any other browser offered the same it would be hard to call - However I have one HUGE GRIP! PLEASE STOP BUILDING WEBSITES THAT ONLY WORK WITH IE! It is insane! With the advance of Mac OS and Net Books neither of which natively support IE it seemt that some sites are asking for people to go elsewhere!

The vast majority of Netbooks do support IE nowadays given that they are shipped with Windows.

And what about the Google Netbook? (I know, I know, it isn't out yet) - But the cheaper netbooks still are being shipped with some form of Unix. Given that Win 7 costs 100% more than a Unix OS it can save money on the cheap end. It might only equate to 15-20 quid to the OEM but on the ever promised 75 laptop it is a big deal.

Oh yes, I forgot that LROM was in the MS camp - LOL! :) :)

The comment wasn't directed at you, but perhaps you could just ask them to adopt standards that everyone else seem willing to use - Then again feel free to ignore that comment :) Everyone else at MS Does - LMAO.

Of course Paul [;)]

I read an interesting analyst article the other day about the Netbook category being near end of life. There are an increasing number of netbooks that cost more than a full spec laptop - there are plenty of them to be found at the 299-349 price point.

I remember posting this thread just over two years ago before the full impact of the category was known. If we fast forward two years, the price point hasn't shifted too much in reality - the most popular netbook of the last year (Samsung NC10) has only recently become available for 220, it was over 300 for some time. The new ULV category I think will be the next wave to take over from Netbooks.

I did like the stat that 60% of netbooks never leave the owners house.... [:D]

The return rate on non-Windows Netbooks is very high according to the major retailers - and there is always DSG's cheapest netbook currently, the Dell mini 9 at 149, which runs XP Home.

Well thanks and all for interesting comments.

Currently it's Chrome all the way - it's super fast on my laptop compared to Firefox or IE8. Also seems to be crisper with better colours ... let's see how it continues.
