As most are aware Farnborough Air Show is currently going on. I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread summarising the major orders that have taken place and the implications on the industry as a whole and the UK/VS industry in particular.
Highlights so far:
Flybe 35x E175's with options for extra 70
Huge order. Makes BE look a very very good fit for VS. A merged carrier would compliment each other well.
Emirates order 30 77W
Takes total of 77W's in fleet to over 100!
Saudi order 12 77W
LAN Group 50x320 family
GECAS 40 x 738
GECAS 60 x A320 Family
Air Lease 51 x A320 Family
Hong Kong Airlines 15x 330 and 20 x 350
So despite the economic climate and the state of the industry a number of good healthy orders so far! The BE announcement is really interesting, I still see VS/BE being a good match for each other. BE have announced that the 175's will compliment the current fleet and allow for further expansion into Europe.
