another safety issue for airbus to deal with after the QF A380

I'd turn this around ... if anyone really understood what happened to QF32 then the airframe withstood an engine failure remarkably well, and it was an engine failure, not an Airbus failure. The cascading problems could have happened on any airliner because the basic design and positioning of hydraulics and electrics is the same, there's no where else really to put these.

So that was RR not Airbus.

As to your link, well EASA has issued 491 airworthiness directives this year (99 of those mention Boeing, 90 Airbus) ... let's perhaps put that one in context.

And to be fair to RR, the engine casing worked exactly how it was suppose to.

to be fair yes the problems could and do happen to all aircraft and QF's problems are with the Trent engine not the 380 but it is not good to have too much bad publicity all at the same time.

Glad you highlighted that Bill, the LP blades (fan) are designed to be contained for obvious reasons (hence the "blade off" tests).
