Hi

Booked two PE returns LHR-SFO, both fare code NLUGDSMX .... which means zero to me

Upgraded outbound with miles to UC and had to pay £568 per person on top of the £50 per person upgrade fee and 33500 miles, which was unexpected but still a fair deal

However, the inbound upgrade has cost me just £50 per person plus the miles

Trying to fathom out if this is right ... anyone with 'the knowledge'

Many thanks

The cheapest fares, in any cabin, are not upgradable with miles and you have to buy up into a more flexible, more expensive bucket to be able to upgrade.

So that will have been the case for your outbound but it sounds like the return was already booked into an upgradable bucket so you didn't have to pay any more.

Wrong. The APD (air passenger duty) is the same in UC as it is for PE - which the OP has already fully paid in their PE fare.

Thanks for the replies .... I found it odd that I wasn't charged the same level for the return, not that I'm complaining, of course (:
