VS1 LHR EWR 2017

First post...great forum by the looks of it.
I am booked with Virgin Holidays to go to NYC next year (Upper Class) and cannot wait. I booked the EWR routing rather than JFK as at booking VA had the 787-900 on the aircraft. I really want to fly the 787.
Anyway all good until last week when i got the announcement that the flight time and aircraft had changed...its now an A330-300 which looks lovely, is fairly modern...its just not the 787 for me.
I know VA reserve the right to change so i am not complaining, just disappointed really. As it was a sudden change any ideas as to whether this has happened before and changed back? Im hoping that is the case...i have until July 2017 to find out.
Also flying VA to MCO from LGW next May for a 2nd family trip to Florida...love VA.
