Is it sent from outside of the EU? Are you charged tax when it arrives in the U.K.?

Look like these are sent from the US so yes, anything imported from outside the EU worth more than £15.00 is subject to 20% VAT and pretty much everything gets checked these days. Royal Mail will also slap on their own £8.00 handling fee as well if they send you a 'fee to pay' card.
