Hi all,

Have searched for the above but couldn't find any results but it appears that the remaining 747's are due to be replaced by A380's next year

Anyone else heard this?

Thanks

I think this is on Virgin's wikipedia page. There was originally an order for six but the order has been deferred and been on ice for a good decade or so. The chances of the order ever been confirmed is essentially nil, and certainly not next year!

I recall that the orders for the A380 were translated into A350's

B.S. Virgin Marketing machine, not yet willing to (admit) accept that the A380's are NEVER arriving on the flight line.

Forget them, VS simply can't fill a plane that big.

They probably can at certain times of the year - 2 x full A380's would be much more efficent than3 or 4 x full 747/A340/whatever on the LGW - MCO route, but probably only in the school holidays. What about the other 40 weeks of the year?

Busines travellers want frequency so the LHR-NY runs are no good for them. The industry has moved on since the A380 was announced and VS just doesn't have the need for that capacity year round nowadays.

It was good PR for VS at the time...

There's more chance of seeing dumbo the elephant landing at LHR in VS colours than an A380 :-)

Suspect the A350-1000 deal has rolled the A380 deposits in to it.
