Posted: 08 Jan 2018, 11:34I got caught up in this last Thursday. Virgin rebooked me on Delta (VS128 was cancelled) which was subsequently cancelled - after I had checked a bag in and had gone through security.
I think my bag is somewhere in domestic arrivals (and probably quite wet now).
It looks like there are hundreds of unclaimed bags in the domestic arrivals hall for two reasons:
1) Cancelled flights' luggage was offloaded there and;
2) Because of backlog congestion some international flights had to go to domestic piers and then luggage was offloaded to the domestic carousels.
I've heard the word 'carnage' used a few times...which is probably correct.
Hope you get through Kennedy ok and with any checked bag you need to claim.
