Thanks to a certain VS person for this official info:

In mid February 2004, Virgin Atlantic
moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4
at JFK Airport. Terminal 4 is a recently
constructed terminal with floor to
ceiling triple height glazing and
sweeping views over the runways and
New York City skyline. Virgin Atlantic
has had the opportunity to build a new
Clubhouse in a prime location within it.
As our passengers check in on the
4th floor, the main focal point ahead
of them will be the Clubhouse, which is
on view as it is an open pavilion within
the building volume, and acts as a
beacon across the terminal.

RECEPTION
This is a welcoming area where two
staff stand at podiums to meet and
greet our guests.

BUSINESS AREA
This is a dedicated business area,
housing four Apple Macs and two
further work areas with phones/faxes
etc. Each booth is individually screened
for ultimate privacy, yet not cut off
from the lounges ambience. Wireless
technology is available along with
data ports throughout the lounge.

LUGGAGE AREA
This area is both a cloakroom and
storage area.

BAR AREA
This is the main focus point of the
clubhouse. Two members of staff will
man the bar that will have seating
for 20 guests, great views and a 42”
plasma screen to view films and the
latest news.

COCKTAIL AREA
This is an area to sit back, sip on a
martini and enjoy the view. This area
also hosts four TV’s (by use of headset
only) and four Sony playstations.

DINING AREA
This area runs the length of the lounge
on a leather banquette with views out
to the runway and can seat 40 guests.
It is acoustically separated from the
terminal by the water feature.

REST ROOMS AND SHOWERS
The rest rooms are individually
dedicated male and female, along with
a mens room, which has two urinals.
Both shower rooms are large and
spacious with drench showers.

MAIN LOUNGE
The 10 ft high sculptured pearlescent
screens in the centre of the lounge
give the feeling of individual space and
seclusion, these areas have a range of
different seating for any given mood.
At night they’re illuminated with subtle
colours reflecting the Manhattan
skyline.

VIP ROOM
A private space which when not used
by our VIP’s, can be utilised as a TV
room with it’s large 42” Plasma screen
and play station.

CHILL ZONE
A quiet corner of the lounge, allows
for a snooze on one of the day beds.

SPECIAL FEATURES
One of the main features of the space
is the waterfall on arrival to the
lounge, which then flows into a pool
and runs the length of the lounge. The
screens in the main seating area (and
bar) when lit will reflect the skyline
and the evening light of Manhattan.
A new snack bar service means that
passengers can pick up a sandwich,
snack or a drink at any time in the
Clubhouse, and this together with our
Freedom service allows full flexibility
with the food experience.

Thanks,
Richard

I would love to try it out, but I still prefer to fly into EWR when I am going to New York.

In my favorite clubhouse list this would now be somewhere near the top.

EWR? We found the gentleman with the thin beard incredibly helpful and friendly, but the internet access is dialup and the choice of food isn't as good as non-shared clubhouses. The toilet facilities are restricted and the lounge feels a tad claustophobic especially when several flights are waiting.

From my recent post on FT:

The EWR facility is a proper VS Clubhouse and not a shared facility like some of the other US airports.

Zoned up, and tastefully decorated. THey have a cool Sony Cinema room, but that is usually first to go. They do have a number of DVD players and a large library of DVD's so you can sit and watch a movie at your seat in the Clubhouse.

Foodwise, its a simple selection as they are not allowed to cook over open flame as its an enclosed kitchen. But the food is better than most Business lounges - there are plenty of 'sinful' snacks scattered around though. Some business terminals with Internet Access.

I quite like the facility, and best of all the staff are very nice.

Thanks,
Richard
