I've had similar problems twice this year in Greece where the queues were outside the terminal. Luckily we made the flights but I did wonder what the response from the airline would be if we had arrived at the gate too late.
A purple boarding card, pre-booked cowshed treatment, glass of T10 with lime, a proper amenity kit, packet of polos and a Freedom Menu please!
