Robin Hood Airport

The new commercial airport at ex RAF Finningley is to be named Robin Hood Airport.

To start with Finningley is in Yorkshire, they have always been trying to poach OUR Robin Hood.:D:D

On a serious note there were rrumours several years ago that SRB was thinking of moving the whole VS operation to Finningley IF his train company got the franchise for the East Coast London - Edinburgh mainline.

Finningley is not far from the A1, it has a MASSIVE runway - the longest in the UK I think, and it has a rail spur that goes straight into the airport. The theory being that pax could disembark from the plane - onto a train and be whisked to central London in no time at all.

Great theories but GNER still hold the franchise for the rail line and the rumours died a death.
