On our return trip from Antigua after an amazing week in the sun, I was really excited about having a bed to come home in. Again flying on 2 G's (upgraded from PE S fare),I was very happy we had a good deal, and the flight just as the outbound one was fully loaded.

When checking in online, I found out my mum and I had been moved from 3&4K to 2&3K to make room for cabin crew and her friend - I wasn't impressed by this but I later found out they were both pregnant so it seemed fair deal. Outbound we were 4&5A, I have to say, I prefer A to K and 2&3 is too far forward (and close to the gally) for my liking - lesson for next time. Check in and bag drop at the airport was easy, however I was asked for the second time this year, if I was flying on a staff ticket!? - I'm really beginning to resent being asked that question - think its an age thing!

The shared lounge at Antigua was great - much better than expected! It's upstairs, away from the crowded bus shelter of downstairs, where families were having to huddle together standing room only! It was relaxing and service was good. We had a couple of dorks, no food, and it was time to board Diamond Girl, who brought us to Antigua.

We were escorted past the line to the front of the departure gate, and straight on the plane, and greeted with the warm welcome I have come to love from Virgin. Champagne straight away, and time to relax before departure. The service throughout was fab, extremely attentive and really personable.

When ordering the meal, I chose Scallop followed by Paella, then fruit - it was the worst food I have ever had in UC. The scallop was served cold - almost a block of ice, and very flavour less. I had steak on the way out, so opted for paella - what actually turned up was a bowl of dry rice with a Prawn on the top - so disappointing - wish I kept the steak! Never mind!

A few drinks later it was 10pm, dark and time to go to bed. The turndown service as always was a real bonus, although they did struggle to cope as 33 people all asked for it to be done at the same time (I helped 2 ladies behind me as they were struggling - (good deed for the day)!

I woke up a few hours later to a full English, and fresh fruit, and 7.5 hours after departure we touched down.

Overall, I always love the experience and this one didn't disappoint, however the food was a real let down, and the seat was a bit to far forward for my liking.

I have noticed Virgin have sales some times to price match competitors, but don't put all of the sale info in the special offers section. On Sunday in their unadvertised sale to the Caribbean in UC, I grabbed 2 UC for a great price for Mar 15 to Barbados and used a few miles to lower them even more to the cost of less than 1 Z ticket at today's prices.. The countdown begins!
