Despite the absolutely mad departure time (22:45) especially on daylight savings time day, this was a very good flight. Sadly the VS presence in Terminal E has seriously diminished at Logan. Where for many years it has stood like a bright and cheery beacon right in the center of departures, Delta has moved it off into the dark corner in the side hall next to oversize baggage drop off--where Are Lingus used to be.
We parked in Framingham and took the Logan Transport bus which encountered little in the way of inbound traffic so there in good time to check in (no one else was there) with knowledgeable ground crew who were happy to give us the bulkhead seats 19A and C. Having had a light meal at Dine Boston before going through security, we had an expensive and not worth it glass of wine at Vino Vino or whatever it is on airside before being called to board, VS boarding back at the 7/8 gates. Ground crew offered $950 UC upgrades (no thank you). A very light flight down back we watched what appeared to be a total of 8 people be called up for UC upgrades, including a very happy group of 4 who were standing right next to us.

Seen on to plane, LadyBird (VBUG A340-642) and welcomed by (only poor side of service) sparkling wine which was clearly two different bottles his clear and mine amber and both sweet and undrinkable). Seat was in good shape, two windows, zip amenity bag with the usual and handset VERA. Short flight, we thought we would go right to sleep but both watched movies, ate yet another midnight meal (reasonably ok) and had another wine (same). Attentive and quiet crew, PE certainly got all the attention we required while they were also covering EC as well as giving a hand with UC. Got in a couple of hours snooze and arrived on time LHR which would have been a blessing except for the HOUR PLUS spent in immigration queue . We were going to use old Fast Passes but that line not much better as clearly we had not only arrived with several other large flights, the immigration officers seem to have taken a very long tea break as only 3 were at desks. Imagine hundreds of people stood in looped lines, all texting their updates and only coming too every now and again to shove their bag forward. Then add in all the small and very tired children and their equally exhausted parents...
Heathrow Connect closed for servicing.
All in all despite the incredibly inconvenient time--thumbs up for this flight.

We also arrived back into Heathrow on the 13th - have to agree a totally dismal experience at the Border >-(

No doubt HMG trying to save money by not paying for enough staff on a Sunday
