if I buy an unlocked IPhone 4s in Florida, it will work with my UK (02) microsim in the UK?

US Apple Store goes on about CDMA carriers.

Not if you buy it from Verizon ... different technology, won't work in the UK ...

Yes a SIM free unlocked iPhone 4S bought in the US will work in the UK as the 4S is a Worldwide handset now (unlike the iPhone 4, that has separate GSM + CDMA models, the 4S combines both GSM & CDMA in one handset)

Only GSM handsets will work in the UK.

It obviously needs to be the unlocked version (which only Apple sell directly from their stores)

I don't think you will be able to activate the iPhone using your O2 microSIM though until you return to the UK and are using the UK mobile networks.

my sister got a 4S in NY back in January. just ask for an unlocked one. the day we went in they didn't have any so they did something to an AT&T one to unlock it whilst we were in the store.
