So many interesting jobs, what a great thread. This band definitely has to happen! I would be glad to offer services of keys/guitar if required ;) Once upon a time I used to do vocals too but we don't talk about that anymore...! :w

NYLON, do you compose mostly just with manuscript? Or do you use any software?

Why does the placing of the terms "jazz" and "collective" next to each other in a sentence bring me out in hives? It's Melody Maker circa 1967 all over again... :)

A bit of both. Nothing beats pen and paper for jotting down a quick idea (especially on the VS45!), but anyone in the music industry (whichever part of it) needs to have a firm grip on the available software today.

Enjoy! I've heard it's fun, but we've not been. We're heading to London Super Comic Con in March, but it's a little less fun sitting at a table for the duration!

Yes! My husband was a guest at one in 2013 called Kaigai Manga Festa. It was absolutely huge; I think the capacity was similar to San Diego Comic Con, which is massive. However, it was very much focused on art and artists, there wasn't much in the way of cosplay, which I know is a big attraction for some people going to conventions. The only bizarre thing was that the show was only 5 hours long. That's right; a show with a massive capacity that lasts five hours. At 4:45pm everyone started packing away their tables!

We haven't done Anime Expo yet; my husband mainly works for US companies like Marvel, so we don't do many anime-centric shows, but I'd be very curious to go if ever we did get an invite! :)

That ProTools setup in the CH finally makes sense! (Is it even still there?!)

...if you're looking for someone to air the VF ensemble, I'm a deputy programme director at a radio station. We concentrate on top 40 but one of our sister stations is non stop classical. Limited travel so I fly VS for fun.

Yes it is; I've even used it a few times. It's good if your flight is delayed, you've drank your body weight in Lanson, and you just want to just play around on something you've already been working on. Or if you want to make a rough edit of something.

The idea that it's "a professional grade recording studio" is a bit a of a joke, though.

The other issue is that nobody in the CH knows how to work it. The setup is a bit patchy.

Also late to the party here and I wish I had something exciting to tell you, but I'm a chartered accountant working for a large US-headed oil and gas company.

Work travel (in economy for all) includes Dubai, Houston and Aberdeen, and you can probably tell by my lack of work travel lately that the oil price is hitting us hard...thank goodness for leisure trips :)

I serve in the Royal Air Force, though not for much longer as I will soon be leaving after 22 years. Not sure what I'll do next though. As little as I can get away with I suppose!

Have been retired for a few years now. Still do the occasional
interior design. Property in Turkey so we holiday there a few times a year. What with grandchildren, children and aged parents time just flies by!
