Er sorry - but what are pink passes???
Can someone please pass me the manual....[:(]

They are the passes that UC passengers sometimes get to use Fast Track in the Immigration lines at LHR and a source of grievance to some former members ;)

One thing to bear in mind, if you really want to go for this:

Completely mad enough for me to be enthusiastic ... hope no one from Virgin is reading otherwise they'll have to stock up various bars on the ground and in flight ... but Y ... hmm haven't done that for about 8 yrs so would need to be empty and requires valium!

Crazy but cool.

What a great idea!

Did something similar last year... Now don't laught, but i did this last year, just for the hell of it! Bear in mind the sat night stay to make it cheaper we flew out to JFK and back from EWR on the Sunday morning

When the Boston flight was from Gatwick it used to do a quicker turn in the UK but but ont he ground on Boston for most of the day.

It really was possible to go shopping or a day out in Boston.

Indeed when the Star Wars films came out I know a few people who went for the day to see the moive in a Boston cinema.

Okay I am thinking out aloud here now...

This is getting crazier by the minute, so a couple of things:

a) yes we would need to do the Saturday night thing to get the low fares, so we may nee dto find a cheap hotel at wherver we choose. If its NYC, then a hotel at the airport. With Boston, obviously it is closer to the airport.

b) depends if people want to take the Monday morning off as only NYC has the flights during the day. My preference is to come home via JFK as it has a fab Clubhouse.

c) really crazy now, how about open jaw, and catching an AmTrak train between the two points, so we can have a V-Flyer Party train... Someone slap me please....

Thanks,
Richard

Okay Boys and Girls,
A possible plan is forming...

29-30 April
JFK - out on VS45 at 2pm lands at 16:40 (I thought we should empty the CH first, instead of trying to be there for the 9:30 VS3)
Return on VS4 next day (Sunday) 18:45 arrives on Monday morning at 06:35 so you could be mad and dash for work (Like me!).

Fare is £278.30 which earns 6,916 mile sif you are Gold and 2 TP, other wise it is 5187 for Silver or 3458 for Reds. Alternative is be a real fool (possibly like me) and book a MpM fare at £227.

I aim to get my £227 worth of food, drink and treatments out of the trip!

Obviously it means a hotel has to be located somewhere, on the hunt now...

Thanks,
Richard

Ahem, slightly OT, but are you going to be able to organise a V-Flyer tour of T5? [:p]

Thanks,

Sorry can't make those dates both. Will be other side of the States in LAS and SFO at the time (and not flying out in Y either:D)

Shame, as it sounds like just the sort of thing I would do to convince all my friends and family that I really am a VS geek ;)

If you were hard, you'd all fly out in Y to SFO with Ben and I, do the run, and then fly back home the next day. [:w]

Not if you took the late night Sat flight out which arrives close to midnight (IIRC), stay a couple of hours in the airport and fly home on the early morning and.......

HAVE THE PARTY IN THE AIRPORT! :D:D

I know this is not a good option, but just shows you what is possible.

BTW, I think this is a great idea (totally mad though the lot of you:D), but unlike preiffer, it would take a little more than a than the mention of a jolly to get me in Y voluntarily.

Make sure you file some decent TRs and maybe if you ever decide to do it again in W (or next year when I need the miles or TPs) I will join you bunch of nutters.

And I think if you run the race the 'Why Y!?! Contest' could allow the SFO-LHR in PE to let those legs relax.

Come out the SF! It will a blast. Even if you do not run you could 'carb load' at a fine North Beach italian eatry the day prior. :)

God! Some of you really are Upper Class tarts aren't you! What's the flight time to NY, 6 1/2 hours ish? Poor old me has to endure Y for 11-12 hours every couple of months, and up until recently that was even when the company was paying. Happily they have now finally changed the rules and I'm looking forward to my first UC flight hopefully to NRT or PVG on the way through to Seoul.

But until then I'm happy to go Y to NY.

Just confirm one thing, N tickets still get 2 TP's each way?

Cheers

Beat you! 6ft 5 and seriously considering nothing less than PE for self funded flights, but then that would reduce the number of times I could fly, so I guess I will tolerate it until I win the lottery. At least v:port amuses me for the duration and i don't need to try to sleep to pass the time![y]

For some, it's just the lure of those infamous blue drinks and the fact that you're on a plane seems to be lost in a drunken stupour somewhere over the atlantic!;)

Well Richard (and Highflyer - of course;)) you have sucked Mrs Buns and me into this crazy vortex[y][y] and we are cetainly up for it (Mrs Buns is naturally aprehensive about Y, but I am sure the shopping draw and the Clubhouse visits will compensate;))
