Thanks,

Without a doubt the best. I haven't used the rooms, but have had several meetings there and a couple of Christmas parties. Nice hotel and nice gym, ridiculous bar prices though (11.50 for 2 vodka and coke!!) and it would only cost about 7 or 8 quid for a cab into town.

Sweet! :)

£7-8 isn't bad between 4 people sharing, and we will just have to make use of the bars in Blackpool. Rooms are fine, stayed there a couple of times for work.

Thanks,
Richard

I have just booked a room at the DeVere - we'll be arriving mid day on the Saturday.

Rate is flexible, so can be changed cancelled up until 2pm on day of arrival. The Hilton is over double the Devere rates, and isn't the greatest hotel from reports.

http://www.devere.co.uk

Room only £84
Room + full breakfast for 1 adult - £89
Room + full breakfast for 2 adults - £99

All rates include tax, and yes they take AmEx.

Thanks,
Richard

Can people please confirm which nights they will be around for please - either here or PM.

There are quite a few people who are staying over just on the Saturday night - the DeVere works out much cheaper for one night. We are thinking of staying there on the Saturday and if there aren't too many people around on the Friday we'll just stop over at our usual B&B in town.

Hi Mat,

Steve & I are there both nights (Fri & Sat) - our flight lands in BLK around 21:30 on the Fri. Don't really mind where we stay - sounds like it may just be simpler to go with the De Vere both nights? At least we wouldn't have to check out of one place & check in to another on the Sat!

Cheers
J&S

For 2 adults to stop the Fri and Sat night, it is £148 inc taxes in total. That is an advance saver rate - so not sure on cancellation policy.

Thanks,
Richard

Okay dokey... we havn't booked anywhere yet.
Will be doing the DeVere on Saturday night (and its quite near to what is meant to be a very good car boot on the Sunday) just need to sort out Friday.

I know you get in late on the Friday, but as long as you're not jet lagged :D will be joining us out on the Friday night. We'll no doubt be in some dive bar on Talbot Street or wherever..
I need to see what the new Flying Handbag is like!

Flying Handbag is apparently rather good, i know its moved since i was last in Blackpool. Are we going to see Funny Girls then? :)

Thanks,
Sarah

The old Flying Handbag was as rough as f**k and as camp as tits in equal measure. I loved it [:X]

Havn't been to the new one, it's in the same building as Funny Girls, and the new flamingo.

Funny girls was the plan, for food and then see the show. Mat rang up a few days ago and they only had Standing left available, although we're going to ring back and double check..

Room Only at Da Vere's is now showing at £126.00 for just 1 night - which means I've probably left it too late to sort my life out. [:(]

Hi all :) For anyone who fancies Virgin Trains 1st Class back to London on the Sunday, I've just booked myself and Steve Value Advance 1st Class for £32 pp. A few days ago I checked and the cheapest was over £250, so I'd suggest snapping this fare up at the earliest opportunity [y]. Go on, Sunday lunch and a few Merlots in VT 1st - gotta be fun! (As mentioned earlier in this thread, we're flying up on the Fri eve from STN, hence only booking a single on VT to get us back on Sun)

Cheers
James

Edit: Departing Blackpool 12:28 arriving London Euston 17:00 (change at Preston)

Being a Blackpool native, I might be tempted to come and crash out at the folks place, but it feels like I'm spinning plates with my diary at the moment.

I can recommend a great curry house, not central, but they probably the best onion bhaji in the world. They would almost certainly need a booking for a group >4, as it's very popular.
