Ok, some of last night is a little hazy, but I thought I'd throw together a few words & pictures of last night :)

Proceedings commenced in the afternoon, ~1600hrs when Pegitt and I started in the bar. We were joined by Onionz around an hour later, then Pix & his mate Tony....one by one folks started turning up til we had a sizeable gathering in the bar.

Bazz & Pixuk before we set off:

After waiting til around 2000hrs, we walked down to the riverside and boarded the boat - The SL Belle was a fine old wooden boat, and had plenty of space for our crowd. From here on in, it's a bit blurry since I don't even remember us going through locks! I do remember that the food and drinks were excellent, the music was great, and the company was ok too ;):D

Bazz (L to R: Bazz, Buns4vs, LROM, Jonathan in the foreground):

Bazz & Nottingham Nick:

The Jazz Trio:

I'd love to see the picture that this lot are laughing at - I think it's of me! (L to R: Pegitt, Pixuk, Onionz, John):

This motley crew hung around the deck at the bottom of the steps (L to R: Buns4vs, LROM, Nottingham Nick):

After mooring back at Maidenhead (not sure of the time), we retired to the Thames Hotel for more drinking and frivolity.

The lovely barmaid, Tina:

Me at the bar (Pixuk & Tony to the left & right!):

I'm afraid that I left the bar rather early (though wasn't the first was I Onionz? [:p]:D), but I did leave Bazz propping up the hotel bar, true to his word :D:

I first woke at ~0530hrs and realised that all the room lights were on, went back to sleep and got up again at ~0800hrs to catch the last 8 laps or so of the Grand Prix. Made it down to breakfast to see Jonathan & John, and Pegitt came in a short while later. No sign of Pix, Tony, or Onionz!

We retired to the bar area so I could smoke, and managed to get a coke from the barman. Pix, Tony & Onionz finally surfaced at around noon (note, I do have a cracking picture of our dear site owner looking spectacularly rough, but he said I can't post it [}:)]). We sat around chatting for a while (I had a beer) before going our separate ways at around 1310hrs.

So, a stonking night out - a good time was had by all. Thanks to Bazz for organising it, Pix & VS for the goodies & stylish name tags, and most of all to everyone that turned up and made it another memorable V-Flyer social event :)

Here's to the January bash - hic! ;)

Cheers

Thanks [:I]
I know I put in that it was a memorable event, but we seem to have some memory lapses around :D

Michael,
Thanks so much for the pictures and story. A very special "TR" indeed. It was great to put the faces with the names of some of our more fabled forum members. Along with those that Pix posted earlier in the day your pictures definitely added to my understanding of the evening that I and others missed.

Was especially neat seeing Bazz inasmuch as he and his wife and I had dined together at the San Clemente pier while the Bazzes were visiting Southern California on the 13th.

Here's to the next adventure! Regards, Chuck-

Good TR Mike,
Did you discover if Highflyers unused room was a smoking one?

Glad you liked folks [:I]

Jonathan - nah, I didn't find that out - still think I was probably safer in the non-smoking room anyway :D:D

Michael

Many thanks for putting together the TR for the benefot for us all;)

Perhaps I should own up to being an early "retiree" in that I did not stay the night at the hotel[:I][:I].

Your TR has convinced me that, as far as socials are concerned, the only way to travel is to stay overnight[8D].

thanks for your company and I lokk forward eagerly yo the next social

All the best

Buns

Of course, you know staying over makes sense ;)
The side benefit to a good night's sleep melting away the drunken stupor is that you get to see that you're not the only one looking dog rough over breakfast :D

And yup, looking forward to Jan already too! :)

Cheers

For the record, I am not trying to dance the Sailors' Hornpipe in the second pic, I have my foot on a step! ;)

Thanks for all the 'thanks' guys, it makes all the effort worthwhile :)
