BA applies for EU-USA Services

On 4th May BA applied to the DoT for rights to operate EU-USA services from April next year when the open skies policy comes into affect.

Very interesting development. Analysts are now saying it is a "better be safe than sorry measure" meaning they will use it as a trump card if AF/LH move in LHR-USA services.

Of course with IB on the market, LH/*A saying they want to buy IB it places more pressure on the BA/One World alliance.

I think *A could be the real winner out of the open skies policy- they will have a strong UA/BD link up and IF they got IB would be very strong from Europe.

Interesting times ahead...
