God I hope not, it's about the only thing I would go near on VS or BA right now.

£20k to repair the damage - what piffle!!
We use commercial microwave ovens in many of our catering jobs and these tend to be rated at 1850-2000 Watts - so significantly higher than the domestic oven. In addition they are built to take a high level of use and abuse - the magnetrons are sigificanly stronger and can withstand constant use which the home microwave never gets and having metal in them - which creates a great "lightning" effect and is not to be tried at home - which will burn out the magnetron of your domestic oven.
These beasts cost around £1k - so whilst the aircraft types will be purpose built it would take a significant malfunction to cause £20k of damage!!
If you do use a commercial microwave oven then following the instructions on any shop bought items will be folly as it will reheat items between 3-5 times quicker than a 900 Watt domestic!
Microwave oven nerd - me yep!![:I]
