Hopefully someone can help before I use a fair chunk of BA miles...

747 FIRST vs 777 FIRST. What are the pro's and con's of each?

Thanks

IMHO there isn't any major difference, the seat and space are the same the service and food are the same.I wouldn't decide a trip because of the metal that is operating it.

The only thing against the 777 is that it is more often than not boarded from a remote stand at LHR so it's the bus to the aircraft/terminal.Oh and there are a couple of 777s that have very small IFE screens but these aircraft do carry a dvd player for every F PAX.

Technically, the 777's slower than the 747, so if your sensitivity to journey times is at a "down to the minute" level then that might sway things... ;)

Technically, the 777's slower than the 747,

Thats the decider then 777 it has to be in future, more time onboard to get stuck into the food and booze[}:)]

The only differences I would mention are:

o The seat pairs 1A & 1K in a 744 are very close, and good for a couple if travelling together who can't get the other middle pairs behind, but I would avoid this row if travelling alone on a 744.

o 2A and 2K on a 744 I think are the most private for individuals travelling alone.

There is more "equality" in the seating on the 777.

Howard

I like the idea of being in the very front of the aircraft with no passing traffic, row 2 sounds especially good.

Thank you everyone for your feedback!

I'm sure there will be a plenty of TR's in the New Year with a group of us trying FIRST in a moment of holiday madness. Can't wait!!
