Hi all,
Would I get BA tier points when flying on American Airlines First class from LAX to LAS? The fare code seems to be a K-UP while the fully flexible First ticket is a Y-UP.
Regards
John

My understanding is yes, you would get 60 TPs. Although it's an upgrade fare, it's an instant upgrade at the time of booking.
I see it's discussed over on FlyerTalk

Cheers Howard,
Flying LAX - LAS on AA is now looking like the preferred option over the Corvette!

I must admit I have switched to driving since 9/11 on this route, although LAS has since improved, having priority lines.

K-UP is the new code for Y-UP, both are the same thing and you will earn 750 miles and 60 TPs.Present your BAEC card at check-in and make sure that the BP has your EC number on it,miles/TPs post in about 5 days.Don't expect much from these short AA F flights and there's no lounge access unless you hold BA silver or above.

Jeez, I should've thought about this before I booked VX to SFO as going back to LAX then up to SFO all on AA would have netted me enough TP's to clinch BAEC silver.
Drat.

John, I'm sure Iain will make it up to you by rewarding you with copious quantities of alcohol in return for your company on the VX leg
