BA start banning sporting equipment

NOTE: Not charge for it - BAN it [:0]

So, aside from the fact that their excuse is pretty much total BS (it's NEVER gone through the baggage system, and if the hold "can't accommodate" such items, how do they think the freight companies can do it?), what a ****ing joke:

Link here, effective November 6th.

Sporting equipment we do not carry (effective from 6 November 2007)

Due to the large size and handling complexities, some sporting equipment cannot be accommodated through the airport baggage system or within the aircraft hold. Therefore we no longer accept the following equipment at check-in as part of your sporting equipment allowance.

hang gliders
windsurfing boards and sails
surfboards
kayaks or canoes
pole vaults
javelins
Please contact your local freight company to arrange carriage for any items that exceed the permitted weight and size.

So, no more windsurfing/surfing holidays on BA, EVER.

Maybe a bit of sportsperson spotting next year on VS then...

45.

IIRC, I've seen the rugby team and Rusedski on BA, though none of them had many hang-gliders;)

What am I to do with my Javelin!?!?

At least BA still allows golf clubs, imagine what response that would create.

Call me a cynic, but SOMEONE please make a PDF of this press statement?

I'm just waiting for the announcement to follow, regarding "enhancements" to VS' own baggage policy... [:w]
