Recognition of Status

Often we read of people disappointed that Virgin Cabin Crews rarely recgnise Ag/Au passengers and welcome them back, or thank them for their ongoing custom.

What's the case with BA - are they the same or is there more recognition?

I'm not as well travelled on BA as some others here (doing mainly Euro/Domestic flights), but i am usually welcomed back onboard and addressed by name - and I'm BA Blue. It never fails to impress me as there must be countless BAEC Blue members out there.

Thanks,
Sarah

BA are very good at recognizing status on board,CSD usually has a chat even had the captain come round on our last flight.I did however get upgraded a lot more on VS when I had status. On a recent CX flight the CSD walked the cabin greeting all sapphire and emerald members.AA don't seem to recognize anyone on board but the staff in the ACs always mention OW status and are very welcoming.

On my recent BA flight back from LAX, a very charming member of CC walked the cabin picking out pax in various seats (including me) asking for meal choices, and then went to the remaining seats in row order. I asked the question and was politely told that it was to ensure gold & silver Executive Club members got their first choice of meal because they were a little light on some choices. I know this has been subject of discussion in relation to VS.

Not only for this reason.... but I have to say guys that my most recent experiences of BA have been all round very impressive.

Cheers

Exactly. It's not rocket science - just requires the FSM to take charge and actually read the manifest. They don't print FQTV details on there for nothing.

If ANY member of cabin crew were to thank you or recognize your status onboard by even a verbal 'Thanks'; would if make you more loyal to buy that airlines tickets? And at what premium over the other carrier's same cabin lowest fare?

Don't worry GJ - we all want you!

Returning DXB-LHR last w/e the cabin announcement thanked UC passengers for choosing Virgin - that made me smile. Whilst this was no doubt a PA restricted to our cabin, it still was good to hear.

I think a FSM welcome is just one of the extra touches that can be added to the product that, although of little monetary value, make VS what it is/can be at its best.

As we have seen, when these little things are taken away (think red cushions, flowers, good amenity kits...), there is considerable product degradation, even though you may only have lost maybe £30 put of a £3000 ticket. Couple with this with, for example, declining quality of food...well, we've seen many switch to BA in the last couple of years.
