Just caught this on News At Ten. Owing to crew rostering problems BA is operating dozens of flights free of passengers - according to News At Ten these are some of the flights that flew empty in the last week:

4/11 - BA179 Heathrow - New York
6/11 - BA176 New York - Heathrow
11/11 - BA193 Heathrow - Toronto
11/11 - BA279 Heathrow - Los Angeles
Today's - BA2025 Gatwick - Houston
Tomorrow's BA278 Los Angeles - Heathrow (will fly empty)

BA's response >>

"It has been necessary to fly aircraft with only pilots and cargo onboard to minimise disruption to aircraft"

Shame they don't announce them ahead of time - I'd be up for a £50 F "special" to LA... [:w]

With no In-flight service as the point of the flight is that there is no CC - just pilots and cargo. I guess they consolidate two or more flights into one.

Sounds like the odd one or two VS flights that people have been on recently... [:I][:w]

How much extra cargo over a normal flight could these carry? They may not be the finacial bomb-out some people think?

Fantastic comment- that did make me smile lots!

The report is now on you tube.

Now lets see how long before VS militant crew are on here saying "they will be moving across to BA after striking and killing off VS, as BA need the crew". [:w]

A lot, the only one I see an issue with cargo wise is Toronto.

Just a side note.

When I moved out here I flew on Kuwait airways, this was during the build up to desert storm (which I knew nothing about due to work) and I just went for a cheap ticket. Sitting in a 742 with 4 other pax was very strange.

I have to say it's a bit coincidental that the last shot of the broadcast shows a VS A346 flying overhead. Perhaps there's a mixed message in there somewhere?

I think YYZ has a fair bit of cargo on it tbh. I do not know though if AC takes a fair chunk of the cargo but seeing as BA has 3 daily flights, I think, to YYZ I would not be suprised if they had some very good cargo contracts.

Fab side point- 4 people on a 747- amazing!
