Will i need to contact BA?

Just spoke to BA and they said that it should be fine. They said if the worst comes to the worst i can pay £30 to change it which i guess is better than being refused travel.

We had this a couple of years ago on a VS flight when my other half put in her name in the shortened version and we were advised to change it. She had the change implemented and the ticket re-issued at no cost, save for a wait at the the airport.

Did you type/orally give BA your short name? If not, I would not pay the fee as the agent cannot type properly.

I have this problem as for some reason they set up my exec club with Matt instead of Matthew - therefore their system auto defaults to Matt when I make a booking (even though I tell them my name should be Matthew).

I asked them once and they said it won't be a problem - Although that said Matt is Matthew with fewer letters rather than Nick which has different letters i.e. the 'k' so that may make a difference.

Had no problems on recent flight with the wrong name though. Still probably best to ask.
