Usually we do fly Virgin in PE but due to Virgin cancelling our IAD flight we have had to rearranged our flights and now flying BA !! in World Traveller +

Any views on the difference between the two Premium Economy Products ? Especially as we will be travelling with three kids 5,2 & 9Months) !!! [8D]

Do any on the BA WT+ Flights have VOD?

We fly in April

BA LHR - IAD (747)
ATL to LHR (777)

Unless a newer product has since been installed in WT+? the WT+ loses in comparison to new VS PE out of LHR, However IMHO if you compare what you get with VS from MAN or LGW (i.e. the old PE cabins/ non-vod entertainment) there is little in it?

the 744 will have AVOD, I think there are still some non AVOD 722's in the fleet, but I could well be wrong about that, it has been a while since I checked, but fingers crossed the kids will be kept busy with that.

I have to disagree slightly here as PE on VS, irrelevant of aircraft, has an upgraded meal service with proper china and cutlery and warmed breads whereas BA serve the Economy meal in WT+. PE is also still on the Upper deck from LGW/MAN and has dedicated loos which really does help to give the product a more exclusive feel (though that isnt relevant to IAD).

WT+ on BA seems (and probably is) much more of a Y+ product where as VS's PE seems to spill over into a business class of yesteryear. I do think VS have the upper hand in the PE wars. One plus for BA is the inclusion of power sockets for laptops in WT+ (744 only i *think*).

Seat pitch is still the same on both carriers so if you are not so fussed about the meal service and the smaller touches then there isnt that much in it.

I hope the flight (ans vacation) is a good one for you and your family [y]

Thanks,
Sarah

The other advantage of VS's PE over BA's WT+ is VS have dedicated check-in at all airports.

I *think* BA only have WT+ dedicated check-in at LHR, although having just had a look at BA.com, it looks like there's actually no seperate check-in for WT+ in T5 or T4 [:?]

they have WT+ check in's at a number of US airports as well, though in the case of LAX it is kind of hidden between NCW and WT.

My advice would be to bring some snacks on board. I flew WT+ to Denver earlier this year and on the 9+ hr flight we were served less food then I normally get on a VS PE flight to NY, which is at least 2 hours shorter. I was starving by the end of the flight to Denver.
