Any chance of through checking bags from BA to VS?

Hi,

Answer, I guess is probably no. I'm flying (VP) NCL -LHR via BA and then LHR-IAD (VS) same day. I will only have one trolley bag + hand baggage but am feeling lazy and don't want to spend the time waiting in the baggage hall at T5 (last time on a very quiet weekend, I waited about 30 mins for one bag).

Pretty sure they don't have an interline agreement, but no harm in asking at check in.

The do have an interline agreement, you can include a BA flight on a VS ticket but it is really up the the check-in staff on the day if they will do it for separate PNRs.
I would push it a bit if they say they can't straight away but you have to learn where to stop and admit defeat. It's a fair bit of work I think.

I don't fly BA often, but when I have since the move to T5 I have found their baggage services to be very quick indeed.
On 3 out of the 4 occassions, the luggage was waiting on the belt for us, and I have IRIS.

Thanks all for your replies.

I'll certainly ask at check-in, it was just to maximise time at the clubhouse ;) and to simplify the journey across the airport (ie me being a little bit lazy!)

Must have been an off day when I flew - it took ages for the few bags that had been checked on the plane to come through - we were domestic and the gate was very close to arrivals...
