....starts Thursday.

Presume VS will follow suit.

Offering hundreds of flights in every class and holidays across the world, The Great Big Sale is so big, you might need help choosing.

So first stop - our destination guides on ba.com for a little inspiration.

A European city break, perhaps? Or some much needed beach relaxation?

With great savings in Premium Economy, Business Class and First, why not treat yourself to a little extra luxury to get you in the holiday mood?

The Great Big Sale starts on Thursday, 26 August, so don’t miss out.

Looking at ba.com to get an indication will tell us what VS is likely to do, I see for example that CW to JFK fares from October have fallen to about £1,650 - which wouldn't put this among the best sales, but is about £500 less than current prices on vs.com.

Well, nothing on the BA Web site today yet ... and no sale prices loaded into VS that I can see ...

However, I need to go to Key Biscayne at the end of September, VS quotes me £2,471 and BA around £2,000 - is that a sale? On the same dates for JFK BA offers £1,772 whereas VS is considerably more (although the booking engine keeps crashing, typical VS Web site!).

So is BA on sale, or is VS just expensive ...

VS do seem to have certain sale fares loaded (certainly for Premium Economy anyway) as I've just checked my up-coming IAD trip in a few weeks.

Yesterday a return K fare was £900+, today it's back down to £629.

Trying to actually book it on the VS website is a different matter though, as Slinky says, the VS website is crashing when you either try and book or try and view your bookings.

I had been checking BA fares to JNB before booking with VS.
Today, as part of their sale, the fares have increased by £200.00 since yesterday. Virgin unchanged.

She knows that. Her signature is a veiled request to have them restored along with the T10 which has also been removed from the UC cabin

Committed the grave sin of checking how much the sale price would be for the flights we've already booked.....Very glad to see that they're more expensive :D

Cheers

True, thats one of the benefits of being a BA Silver or higher. But the real benefit for any BA Exec Club member is that you can use 25,000 BA miles to upgrade a sale WT+ fare to Club World both ways. ~£650+25k for a Club flight to NYC is not too shabby. Bit different to the buy a S or W, and give us 40k miles option...

Ne'er a truer word spoken Richard, one VS should heed.
