More importantly is confirmation of redemptions and earning across BA/IB/AA including upgrades. That's a very good thing although I haven't read the detail yet.

Soon, I'd like VS to offer say upgrades on VX with FC miles ...

It's improved for BA Silver Club too, with 100% tier bonus instead of 25% no matter which cabin you are in. All very good moves, assuming the required mileage doesn't now increase for redemptions!

This is really much more in line with the practice with US airlines, including the Silver change, given that Silver is really much more like AA Plat or UA Prem Exec. I'd like to think BA is being nice to its customers, I'd say it's much more likely that the change is driven by the closer ties with AA.

The BA EC setup in the US was much closer to this a few years back, at least for mileage earning, before they uniformed the program with the rest of the world. Overall, it's a good change, and given I may be moving to a job with lots of travel to DFW, enough to make me think about BA/AA ...
