NoShow For Return Leg

Hi,

Quick question. The BA sale is currently on and its cheaper for me to do a KIN to LGW return than it is one way. I only want to go one way KIN>LGW and wondered if its the done thing to not show for the return leg.
What are the implications?

Sorry for what appears a stupid question!

Well the airlines frown upon it and it is usually against their contracts of carriage. However, they don't need to know why you didn't show up for your return leg, so they would be none the wiser!

Nothing will happen to you, you just obviously lose the return portion, which if you are at your final destination it doesn't matter.

Of course it is totally different if you don't turn up for your outbound leg but still want to use the return, that is not possible.

There was an interesting thread on this recently in the BA flyertalk forum:

I think i'll risk it then. Im not likely to do it all the time so the chance of me getting a phone call from Willie Walsh asking for the difference in fare is slim then I guess.
Thanks All

It is crazy that a return is usually cheaper than a one way. If you don't turn up for the return flight what are they going to do ? track you down and force to to travel ?

What is more crazy is that on VS it is often cheaper to no show than call and tell them. If you want to change your return thenthey want you to pick a date (pay a fee) and if you then need to change agan later you have to pay the fee again (each time you change. If you no show for the original date then you just pay the no show fee/re-booking fee when you know your final date.
