Good morning,

A friend of mine was flying from Manchester to NYC with BA via LHR. They cancelled the Man - LHR when they arrived at the airport, they managed to get the train to LHR and finally made the flight to NYC

Are they entitled to any compensation or refund of flight cost?

Thanks in anticipation.

Compensation - depends what the reason was. If it was weather (and there’ve been a lot of thunderstorms this week affecting ATC operations at LHR), nothing is due.

Refund - yes they should get a full refund of the MAN-LHR leg if they opted not to fly as it was cancelled. BA won’t pay the train fare though.
