Of all the forums (fora?) I have visited, this is by far the best designed.

There could be a section in which the films showing to/from UK could be listed. Source info could come from pax flying at the start of the month. Just a thought...

The films for the current month and the next month are always listed on the VS website complete with reviews, casts etc.

Nick; thanks for the link.

Decker; I am sure that the younger crowd would benefit knowing about neuter plural latin nouns! However, this is a frequent flyer forum so quoting latin nouns associated with air travel perhaps would be more appropriate? :D

I might only be 32, but I did far too much Latin at school, thankyouverymuch :D

(hate to say that I even remember some of it *sigh*)

Well if not you could always try http://www.worldlingo.com/languages/lat ... ation.html - hate to think what satanic rituals they invoke to get the native speakers...

I'm sorry, but I can't think of Latin lessons anymore without thinking of the brilliant graffiti scene in Monty Python's Life of Brian:D:D

Perhaps the website should have a section, exclusively in latin, to cater for the youngsters who have yet to forget their latin as I have done:). They might have to generate some new latin vocab e.g UCS could be Superthronius?

An exclusive Latin section could bring back some particularly dodgy memories of classes that I should have had therapy for a long time ago :D:D

BTW, Is Latin included on the National Curriculum these days, or does it still very much belong to the public school domain?

Yes, I agree! Not a good idea. In my case it was not the latin that had bad memories but the physical violence inflicted on us if we made mistakes.

I did actually get a latin O Level (some will remember these) at a grammar school but I have no idea what is on the National Curriculum. My daughter went to a private school and she did year of latin but gave it up for some non-reason (she hated it!).

In its defence, it does help, sometimes, in working out what obscure english words mean.

I don't remember any physical violence, but public humiliation...;)

Know what you mean about helping to work out some words - but I dropped Latin as soon as I could, I really wasn't interested in another 2 years of suffering!

BTW, my year were the first year to do GCSEs (although I have got an O Level - took Maths a year early :D)

Cheers

Ditto here. I persevered and have the A grade to prove my competence! :D

Us youngsters are too often tarred with the same brush as the tracksuit-wearing playstation generation! :)
