Edit Respected Users Error

Pete,
I just deleted a member from my 'Respected Users' list and after I checked the box in the Pop-Up window this error message was displayed:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
Line 1: Incorrect syntax near ')'.
/forum/pop_respectedusers.asp, line 158
When I refreshed the user had been deleted but obviously things are not quite working as intended.

Just a quick addition to this - there have been occasions where I went to add someone as a Respected User because their name was not on my list to then receive a message saying they were already added. This happened with Preiffer - so I deleted him from my RR and then re-added him and then his name appeared in the list.
Some glitch somewhere perhaps?

Yeah I've had the same error when someone riled the gator and I wanted to remove them from my list.

I succesfully added GatorBaitor to my RR list error and problem free. Her rating increased 63 to 65. I have had issues in the past.
Added Bazz but his rating only increased 1 point. There was no reason the I did not add these people in the past but why does GB get 2 points a Bazz 1?

Thanks Ben [y]
I've had that too, where an RR adds 2 to someone's rating [:?]

One person respected me and my score was 13 and then when 3 other people respected me it went down to 7. I'm not sure if that's normal.

And I respected Nick before he was a proper member.

Well look what happened to poor old sailor when all of a sudden he dropped from something in the 70s to single figures overnight! [:0]

In fact, I was certain I had Sailor99 in my respected user list but it doesn't show up in his profile.
I tried to add him again and I'm told he's already in my list (as I suspected).
What's going on???

The whole thing seems a bit flaky, I think the RR is not calculated purely on the number of people who respect you but also other factors. Personally I would rather we didn't have it as it can give a wrong impression and provide the wrong incentive.

I don't really see the logic/point in it. But maybe that's just me? [:?]

Okay, I might know why my RR number is a little odd. I think some people have me respected but don't appear on my list of having respected me.

Yep Nick.
So Nick (VS-EWR) was listed in my 'Users I Respect' section in my profile but I was not listed in his 'Users Who Respect Me' section. So I 'disrespected' Nick then re-respected him. His RR went from 7 to 9 and our screennames are now listed on the various sections of eachothers profiles.
Too much effort for the RR thing. Glad the VF takes the whole thing is stride as if this was Facebook or MySpace I suggest the mood would be different.

Yes I have a flaky algorytham or something. Unfortunately everyone disappeared from my side of the calculation, but I remained on their lists. So unless they de-respect then re-respect they they don't count. To be honest, it doesn't really matter as I know you all love me really, or at least I think you do, or maybe I should say that you might do. You do don't you, not that I am insecure or anything?
I'm with Jetwet on this one - who cares. But I would say that wouldn't I!!!

I agree with Jetwet - who cares?[:?]
If you give some information about something then it doesnt really matter whether you have been on this site 2 minutes or 2 years!!:D

Good! It's gone! It was fun at first but then I forgot about it and goodness knows who I might have offended by not "respecting" them

Yes, indeed it has gone.
It's one of many changes we're bringing to the site over the next few months as a result of feedback from the membership. (NOT in a "removing red pillows" and "cereal bars for breakfast" type of way though

[:p])
Watch this space, as they say...

A brief explanation can be found
here.I will lock this thread and ask that any other comments about the demise of the RR be posted in the above thread.
Thanks
Nick
