Absolutely excellent [8D][8D] - I think you have surpassed yourself this time.

My order will be with you shortly (pity I can't make black).

Any chance of an upgrade?[:I][:I] - only kidding

Excellent work - dare I ask what colour the 1000+ posts membership would be? [:D]

How about 'Hospital Blue'? [;)]

Hmmm, Hospital Blue conjures up so many different images, but I guess it'd be ok [:D]

BTW, do Mods get a gold star added? [:D][:D]

Cheers

One question Pix (probably a silly one though!).

Is the number on the membership card where you can have your Flying Club number printed?

by Pete
That'll be your V-Flyer membership number, which *might* mean discounts in the store later (if I can figure out the code to do it) [;)]

Black at 500?

Black should be invite only like another well-known product....

Pix - not worried about the membership card, but I'd like a couple of tags for my baggage. PM me if you need anymore details.

Thanks,
Richard

I totally agree with Richard.

Black should be by invitation only (by Pix) for people who have shown real commitment to the site and to VS in general.

Gold should be the highest catagory you can buy.

What do you think Pix?

Richard,

Tags only? You'll break the master plan without the membership card & number. Couple of Red cards then, eh? [;)]

Not sure about invitation-only - who am I to make that call? I think posting 500+ messages shows pretty good commitment to the site, and if we get a whole bunch of people over 1000 posts in the future, then I might whip out the Crystal card to satisfy their demands [:D]

Well I can help make the call if you want! [:)] 500 is a good level of commitment, though we could have that as a minimum and the need for a sign-off from a mod or two as its quite easy to get upto 500, look how quickly some people climbed over on FT.....

And whats wrong with Red, when I find my digital camera, I'll take some pictures of my new office at home - my lovely new framed collection of Flying CLub and Freeway cards, and a rather large collection of VS boarding cards that I haven;t managed to lose. Then there is all the other VS merchandise on display.....

Thanks,
Richard

Given only 6 people out of 375 (1.6%) are currently eligible for Black, it's probably not much of an issue. [;)] That percentage will probably stay the same as new members join and others reach 500 posts. Seems like a reasonable number to me.

Pix,
How about some Vflyer tier level avatars?? :-)

They look fantastic. I'm going to wait until I hit the 500 mark to get a black card.

That shouldn't be too long now.....

I've always been one for quality not quantity.

What about the min post levels and also a minimum term of membership on the site, as we have registered since date. Black is black, don't have higher than that...

Thanks,
Richard

I agree totally with Richard.

Another thing that should perhaps be looked at is are the majority of the relevant person's posts actually making a proper contribution to the site? Or are they just one worders to boost the post number etc. [:p]

Perhaps there should be some sort of vetting procedure for people who apply for Black status and if they are deemed to have not made a really valued contribution they are given Gold instead? (sorry, that sounds really harsh!). [:I]

Just that if someone has made 500+ posts that are made up mainly of one worders etc, at the moment they could get Black simply by purchasing it.

Also, some people who have shown real dedication to the site could perhaps be invited to Black status at time of buying one of the other levels, even if they haven't made 500 posts.

[;)] [:D]

Good ideas. Some more difficult to implement that others, but I appreciate the core of what you are suggesting is to ensure Black retains some kind of premium.

How about, you can make an application for Black at 500+ posts if your application is seconded by a moderator. For exceptional contribution to the site, I could reserve the right to invite a member to Black regardless of their post level.

Whilst I can see where people are coming from here it makes me a bit uncomfortable. What we're effectively suggesting is moving into a 'thought police' area. Why two sets of criteria, one for < Black one for Black? Are we suggesting that you can post drivel 'til the cows come home and still be Gold? This is just perverse. Drivel is drivel. If someone is sufficiently sad as to post monosyllabic responses purely to get Black then let them have Black. Personally I'd take peer respect over 'Status' every time.

Having said that I have no problems per se with the 'Invitation Only' aspect for the top tier. Basically it is the equivalent of the 'Moderator' flag for the mobile vulgaris. It would reward someone for their contributions to the V-Flyer community by recognising them in the eyes of their peers.

So - Black as a public reward for contributions to the forum yes, policing post quality for Black status, no.

Cha ching....

Continuing on from what Decker has said - i think analysing posts to ascertain 'value' is going a bit far really - after all, aren't these kits just a method of showing support for the site and contributing a little to its running? Why would someone be so desperate to have the Black tier, as to post loads of meaningless rubbish?

Will the purchase of a Black kit be shown to the forum users by way of a new avatar or symbol? Such a display would no doubt affect how sought after it is. This all seems very much like advance preparation - there's not that many people this is going to affect for now.

I still say the silver ones 'look' the best anyway!
I'm flying on the VS27 on the 9th so I need to do some serious contribution to be tagged up by then!

on a seperate note;
I guess the Air Italia planes arent due for upgrade til the end of the year?

In hindsight, some of what Decker has said does make sense...

I still think that invitation only would be good though [;)]
