When I try to post in 'bar chat' I keep getting this msg
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
Line 2: Incorrect syntax near 's'.
/forum/profile_common.asp, line 121
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong or is it a gremlin ?
Thanks,
HG

Well I have never had an issue with Sony before. I think I will put it down to the dodgy WIFI in Yorkshire . . . .

The error would imply there is something specific with the text you are trying to post - are there any odd characters in your message? (did it come via Word, or suchlike). It does sound like an easy one to fix once I know the cause.

Er, computers can't tell the difference between normal and unusual, so the question remains what was the text of the message you were posting - that will be rather useful in figuring out what caused the error.

It probably did

'--' is ok, but there are some other combinations that will not get past the hacker-traps on the site. However, the error you describe sounds more like an error in the way the text string is formatted by the site (my fault, not yours). Won't be completely sure unless I can see what it was you were posting though [;)]

Sorry - can't remember exactly. I will try something similar again and let you know. Thanks Highflyrt & Pete.
