Ok, so the server upgrade I was planning to do Christmas Day / Boxing Day has been delayed, so I've put the board back online until the small part of the jigsaw I'm missing is available. Hope to have the upgrade done over the next week or so, but with less downtime than the last few days.

The new server has now been prep'd, and I plan to move everything over this weekend. Planning to keep the downtime to a minimum, but apologies in advance if any hiccups extend the maintenance.

Note that part of the process is pointing the domain name to a new address - for the majority of you this won't be an issue, but if your ISP is using a stale version of the nameserver data, you may continue to get the old server (and therefore the 'down for maintenance' page). If this continues, consider changing the internet settings on your device to use either Google's (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare's (1.1.1.1) DNS Servers. Google your OS type and 'change DNS' for specific instructions on how to do that. Google & Cloudflare's DNS Servers are typically updated much faster than a local ISP, so probably worth doing anyway.

Ok... I'm temporarily turning off the board while I take a backup of the database and copy it to the new server. See you on the other side!

Ok, and we should now be back on the new server. Let me know if you spot any errors for config things I've missed in the move.

In the meantime, it should all be much faster and a lot less prone to those server crashes we've been experiencing.

Thanks Pete. Great to see the site back up and running (and I haven’t needed to change DNS settings :D )

All was going well, and then there was an error this morning making the site unavailable (thanks, Nick, for the heads up). It appeared PHP had crashed, but no indication why. Easy enough to restart PHP, but I shall continue to monitor why it crashed in the first place.
