respected users

Just a thought - I think a respected users list should be allowed for each forum participant, like on a.net.

Anyway, as I said, it's just a thought!

Cheers,

Please excuse my ignorance [:I] but what is a respected users list?

Cor, where have you been, Nick!;)

It's just a thing (for lack of a better word) where you can list down other users that you respect or think have made a valuable contribution to the site.
I'm sure pix or airchabum could give you a better description!

Cheers,
VS045

Hmm, I guess you did look into it. Good idea VS045, although I don't think there's anyone here that is necessarily not respectable. Pete, does RR stand for "respectable rating"?

Novel idea - like it, and thanks for adding it Pete.

Take it only V-F full members can be added to a respected users list?

Having a couple of problems adding folks where it says "This user is already in your respected list" when they aren't!

Also, could we add users from their Profile page please?

Cheers

Michael

Ok, well it's sort of, kind of, written... but no doubt I'll be tweaking it in the days to come to make it a little more robust as the gremlins drop out of the system.

A couple of useage points;

1. It's linked to the membership records, so you can only add someone to your respected users list if they are a Red, Silver, Gold or Black level member of V-Flyer

2. The Respect Rating (RR number), isn't a simple count of the number of people who 'respect' you, but a devilish calculation based on the respect of others who respect you. That will probably be refined further.

Let me know of any errors (copy/paste them into a PM message if possible)

Yes,

If you click 'Respected Users' in the header navigation (just under the big 'forum' button at the top), that'll give you a list of your users and the ability to remove individuals ;)

To join follow this link.

I'm still 'bedding in' the calculation which works out the RR, so don't be surprised if that jumps about a bit while I fine tune it.

Coo! I'm still blushing at the thought of being on someone's "respected list". I feel I should be making a thank you speech a la Gwynneth Paltrow [:o)]

I put someone down on my respected users list, but when I looked at theirs my name wasn't on as someone who respected them. Any reason?

Might be a bug. Who was the user you added to your list? I'll take a look at it and see if I can fix it.

Ok, I've changed the calculation on RR, since it was doing things which it should have. It's a much more simple calculation now, and hence the RR numbers should be much lower.
