original posting date

I think it would be helpful if the date of the original posting were given under the author's name. On a number of occasions I have clicked on a topic with a very recent posting only to find that the thread itself is not only "old" but ancient!

Thanks. :)

Given that Pete is having to move heaven and earth to keep the website running at the moment, it is doubtful he will be in a position to add many more little tweaks for a while.

You may have noticed from other threads that several 'non essential' features have been removed to try and prevent the crashes that we have suffered recently.

Um, am I missing something, can't you see the post date for any post? All you have to do is look at the first post to see when the thread was started.

Yup - you're missing something Nick ;)

Rapariga was referring to the date in the main forums view - not in the individual post (here's an example.

Under the "Last poster", is a timestamp, but under the "Author" column, it's missing.

Agree with Nick though - let's get the site as healthy as possible first. :)

Well, given it doesn't require an additional call to the database, sure, why not. ;)

Sorry to complicate the issue but would it be possible to put a sort function on the original post. I think this would be useful in the trip reports as there are often lots of reports posted and its hard sometimes to find the newest ones.

Sounds like a challenge...

Ok. It's done.

Clicking on a column heading when in the Forum View (or active topics) will re-order based on that column. Click the same column name a second time will reverse the sort based on that column again.

The sort order you last selected will remain active until you end your session on the site, so when you return it will be back to the default (which is Last Post date, descending).

Note that Sticky Topics will always remain at the top of the list.

Nice one Pete - VERY cool [y]:D

I wonder if the time is absolutely essential? - Removing that, and just leaving the date may make the row height a little smaller, maybe?

Paul, most visitors won't see all that moderator gubbins on the right hand side that you do ;), so they'll have more room and hence it'll all fit nicely.

Eh, it's okay, but it's kind of annoying that it makes the rows so much wider.

VS-EWR,

Do you have a different screen view than I do? I can't see that adding the original posting date has added anything at all to the width of that column.

I meant height, not width; it makes the rows taller. My screen resolution is 1280x960.

Pixuk -

I see that you have now dealt with VS-EWR's column height problem. You must be the most accommodating soul on the face of this earth and I appreciate your good deeds. Thanks again. :)

Yeah, the height looks more proportional to the width now, lovely...thanks!
