Couldn't find my Velocity card so had to go to normal check but fortunately there was no queue. So we bypassed the barriers and walked straight up to the desk and were served. Coule behind us did the same thing to the other desk, also free, and were in told to go through the barriers. A bit of a jobsworth but then she looked miserable - not the face of DJ and the first employee of theirs I have seen with that attitude. Anyway we were checked in quickly - no ID required - but again hand luggage had to be shown and weighed.
Proceeded to teh other terminal all of 50m away and through security and sat at the gate. Boarding started at 2105 and we were all on and away at 2120. Greeted at the door by name, both of us, nice touch. Seemed a quite light load only 50% full. Seemed much more room on 737-800 in 16A & B, just behind the emergency exit row. Service was quick due to light load and time of day and most alcohol was only $5 a buck cheaper than JQ! Read in te inflight magazine they will be introducing live2air TV next year as a pay per view service on most of the fleet. Curently IFE is just audio and they only charge $2.50 for earphones or use your own.
Landed in Melbourne ahead of schedule at 2230, off quickly and into a cab and were back home by 2300.
